Combining business and travel can be a wonderful way to explore the world and still get paid for it, yet there are a lot of things that can go wrong if you don’t prepare things properly. The key is making sure that you pack as efficiently as possible so that you make sure you don’t leave anything important behind.

Take a look at some of the most important things you should bring with you for a successful business trip.

Business Cards

Professionals like Heidi Houston know the importance of having an online presence on places like LinkedIn since most people Google your name before the first meeting. However, you shouldn’t forget the old tried and true value of business cards.

Printed business cards are an essential part of networking since you never know who you’re going to run into.  Writing down your information for someone on the fly is doable, but there’s nothing like pulling out a business card at the moment.

Besides looking more professional, someone is much more likely to come across your business card later in their wallet and be reminded to contact you.

A Computer

It goes without saying that you’ll probably need a computer for your trip regardless of your line of work. Whether you need to check your emails or talk with family back home, your laptop is there to make sure you’re still connected.

If your destination is a plane ride away, a laptop can be helpful for staying entertained. Don’t forget to bring your charger since a dead computer won’t do you any good.

Toiletries

There’s nothing worse than getting ready for a business meeting only to realize that you didn’t bring any of your toiletries. Even though the hotel may have basic things like soap and shampoo, they aren’t going to have your favorite makeup or perfume. Make sure that you bring everything you need to look and feel your best for all your meetings.

First Aid Kit

It’s important that you bring anything that you might need should you fall ill. In addition to emergency supplies like band-aids and first aid cream, you should also bring any medication that you take regularly. The last thing that you need is to have to refill a prescription at the last minute when you’re on your trip. Plan ahead and pack thoroughly.

Travel Documents

Gone are the days when you could travel without all of your documents in hand. It’s important that you bring absolutely everything so that you can board your plane without any issues. If you plan on renting a car, you’ll also require all of your important documentation to identify yourself. Keep all of your documents organized in an organizer so that they don’t get lost or wrinkled.
